Fun, Ice Activity for Children

This fun activity is one for a nice, sunny, warm day when you are stuck on an idea for keeping those children of yours busy. (A quick side note: you may have to be thinking ahead for this activity as you have to make sure your activity is frozen before you begin!) Don't let that stop you! If you think of it too late, make it up and pop it in your freezer for another day!

What you will need:

- an ice tray with fairly large compartments

- objects to freeze in your ice e.g. lego bricks, flowers, small toys of your children's, leaves etc...

- a container or tub for your children to play with the ice in

Once the ice and its objects are frozen, the idea of the activity is for the children to unfreeze the objects out of the ice! They could use water droppers, pouring containers etc to try and melt the ice.

Learning Occurring Through this Activity

- Provides a CHALLENGE

- Learning through SCIENCE (if you do this with your children it can lead to conversations about how ice melts and freezes etc.)

- SENSORY (cold and hard on their hands)

- FUN!

I hope you have a go!
